Since its conception, the Chitwa Trust Fund has focused on providing support to the Dixie village, situated close to the Sabi sand Gowrie gate entrance.
In particular, our efforts have been directed to the needs of the Wisani School children and families providing for and supplementing their nutritional necessities since 2009. 2011 ended with the Chitwa Trust Fund installing 6 new computers at the Wisani school, supplied with educational programs, and entertainment DVD’s. The children were elated and this was possible thanks to the support received from our Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge guests.
This year, the Chitwa Trust Fund has provided the following for the Wisani School in Dixie:
- Supplementing the salaries of the caretakers, cleaners and teachers
- Monthly food supply including bulk delivery of meat, dry goods, and general cleaning supplies
- The completion of a new classroom for the Wisani School which was inaugurated in May 2013
- 4 new educational programs were purchased and installed
- Every month a few educational toys are brought to the school
- We celebrate the birthday of every Wisani student by donating ZAR 1000 to the child and organizing a birthday party with cake for the children
- Reparation and maintenance were provided for the outdoor play facilities at the school
- The Chitwa Trust has finalized a detailed list of the Dixie village orphans for whom adoption is being analyzed
